A New Era

The Lions are coming off of the worst season in NFL history. It seems as if its a new beginning in Detroit. Drafting Matthew Stafford and Brandon Pettigrew is going to help put some pieces together for the future.

Calvin Johnson has already proven he is an elite wide reciever in the NFL, and with the emergence of second year running back Kevin Smith the Lions are showing signs of drastic improvements.

Its hard to say that a team that went 0-16 can comeback and compete with other playoff teams. The process is going to take a couple of years. The Lions are shaping up a good young offense that can compete for years to come, but everyone knows defense wins championships.

At the linebacker position they added a proven veteran in Larry Foote from the Pittsburg Steelers and pass rusher Julian Peterson who is past his prime but still can get it done on the football field.

Detroit put some piecies together to acquire cornerback Anthony Henry from Dallas who played for the Cowboys the last four seasons. Phillip Buchanon was another secondary acquistion who played in a division consisting of great wide recievers when he was with the Buccaneers.

Lets just hope that Lions fans don't show up to games with brown bags over their heads.
